Despite her supposed ineptitude with regular magic, Princess Anisphia defies the aristocracy’s expectations by developing “magicology,” a unique magical theory based on memories from her past life. One day, she witnesses the brilliant noblewoman Euphyllia unjustly stripped of her title as the kingdom’s next monarch. That’s when Anisphia concocts a plan to help Euphyllia regain her good name-which somehow involves them living together and researching magic! Little do these two ladies know, however, that their chance encounter will alter not only their own futures, but those of the kingdom...and the entire world!

Where it came from
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady originated as a light novel series written by Piero Karasu and illustrated by Yuri Kisaragi, which gained popularity on the web-novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The narrative explores themes of fantasy, political intrigue, and non-traditional romance, focusing on the dynamic between Princess Anisphia and Euphyllia Magenta. Its transition into an animated medium was facilitated by studio diomedéa, which sought to balance the series' high-fantasy world-building with its deeply character-driven interpersonal stakes.
Directed by Shingo Tamaki, the 2023 anime adaptation was received as a notable entry in the fantasy genre for its commitment to character growth and its departure from conventional tropes. The studio's visual approach aimed to emphasize the magical research aesthetic of the protagonist while maintaining a consistent emotional tone through fluid character animation. The series garnered critical attention for its nuanced portrayal of its leads and became a well-regarded addition to the modern landscape of fantasy anime, balancing lighthearted elements with more serious explorations of societal expectations and identity.
