Where it came from
The New Gate is an anime television series produced by the studio Cloudhearts, which premiered in 2024. The series is based on the popular Japanese light novel series written by Shinogi Kazanami. The story centers on Shin, a high-level player who manages to defeat the final boss of an immersive virtual reality game, only to find himself transported into the game world three centuries after the event, discovering that the game has become his new reality.
The adaptation was directed by Tamaki Nakatsu and features series composition by Hiroki Uchino, focusing on the blend of high-fantasy action and the philosophical implications of a player surviving within their own digital creation. The production sought to capture the expansive, world-building nature of the original source material. Upon its release, it was noted for its adherence to the tropes of the isekai genre while exploring the legacy of the protagonist's past actions on the game world's evolution.
