Tiger & Bunny: The Movie - The Beginning

Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning was released in 2012 as the first of two feature-length films intended to expand upon the success of the 2011 television series produced by Sunrise. Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani with character design by Masakazu Katsura, the film serves as a retelling of the show's early episodes while incorporating new footage and narrative segments. Its creation was driven by the significant cultural impact of the series, which introduced a unique blend of superhero tropes and corporate sponsorship, reflecting a meta-commentary on the marketing of modern heroism.

The film's visual identity remains rooted in Katsura’s distinct character styling, which balances realistic proportions with the colorful, stylized aesthetic of traditional superhero comics. Upon its release, the project was well-received by the dedicated fan base for its polished animation and its ability to deepen the dynamic between the lead characters, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr. It stands as a testament to the franchise's enduring popularity and its successful transition from episodic television to a theatrical format.
