Tiger & Bunny: The Movie - The Rising

Tiger & Bunny: The Rising was produced by Sunrise and released in 2014 as the second feature film follow-up to the original 2011 anime series. Directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani with character designs by Masakazu Katsura, the film was conceived to expand the narrative arc of the protagonists, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr., following the events of the television finale. The production sought to balance the franchise's established themes of commercialized heroics and corporate sponsorship with a more introspective look at the aging process of a superhero.

The film was met with significant anticipation from the series' dedicated fanbase, largely due to its focus on the dynamic between the veteran hero Wild Tiger and the younger generation of characters. Critics praised the visual evolution of the character models and the seamless integration of CGI action sequences, which maintained the aesthetic established by Katsura’s original manga-inspired designs. It remains a hallmark of the franchise, serving as a bridge between the initial television run and the eventual long-term continuation of the series.
