Tiger & Bunny

Tiger & Bunny was produced by Sunrise and first aired in 2011, emerging as a unique entry in the superhero genre by blending traditional tokusatsu tropes with a corporate-sponsored reality television aesthetic. The series was directed by Keiichi Sato with character designs by Masakazu Katsura, whose work added a distinct, grounded human appeal to the high-tech hero suits. By incorporating actual real-world corporate branding onto the costumes of its protagonists, the show provided a satirical commentary on the commercialization of heroism.

The series was well-received upon its release, particularly for its focus on the buddy-cop dynamic between the veteran hero Wild Tiger and the younger, methodical Barnaby Brooks Jr. The show's exploration of aging, identity, and the media-driven nature of justice allowed it to transcend typical action-oriented demographics. Its success led to multiple films, a sequel series, and a dedicated fanbase that solidified its status as a notable modern take on the masked hero archetype.
