TIME

Time magazine was founded in 1923 by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, established as the first weekly news magazine in the United States. Conceived during an era when the public sought concise summaries of global events, its creators designed the publication to distill complex news into a digestible, narrative format. The iconic red border, introduced later, became one of the most recognizable visual hallmarks in the history of journalism, providing a consistent branding element that frames the weekly cover subjects.

The publication is perhaps best known for its long-standing 'Person of the Year' tradition, which originated in 1927 as a way to address the lack of significant news stories during the Christmas season. Throughout the twentieth century, the editorial approach aimed for a balance between serious political analysis and cultural commentary. While the magazine has transitioned through various ownership structures and digital shifts, its design language remains rooted in the mid-century goal of providing an authoritative, curated perspective on the week's defining figures and events.
