Aoba Riku has just transferred to a new high school because of his father's job, and things aren't quite what he expected. The headmaster's secretary controls the school while espousing the virtues of academic freedom, the teachers are even stranger than normal teachers, and half the student body is walking around with animal ears on. On his very first day, Riku is unfortunate enough to find himself at the center of the student council's latest event, which has him running for his life. All this on top of the normal high school rigour of popularity contests, crushes, and homework makes it unsure whether Riku will be able to survive this new school.

Where it came from
Tokimeki Memorial Only Love was produced by Konami and aired in 2006 as a television anime adaptation of the long-running Tokimeki Memorial dating simulation franchise. Conceived during a period of high popularity for the series, the project sought to translate the interactive school-life mechanics of the original games into a traditional narrative format, focusing on the social and romantic trials of students at Tsujido Academy.
The production sought to capture the hallmark lighthearted aesthetic of the franchise, featuring character designs intended to evoke the familiar visual style popularized by the games. While the series was aimed at existing fans of the brand, it received a mixed reception from critics, who found the shift from player-driven gameplay to a linear television script challenging to reconcile with the franchise's identity as a simulation experience.
