Fleeing from the war that has raged on the planet Cybertron for millions of years, the heroic Autobots led by Optimus Prime encounter a surprise attack by the evil Decepticons led by Megatron. The ensuing melee aboard the Autobot ship ends when the ship crashes on a volcano. Four million years later, an earthquake reactivates the ship`s computer and resurrects both the Autobots and Decepticons, resuming the great war of the Transformers.

Where it came from
Transformers Generation 1 debuted in 1984 as a multimedia franchise designed by Hasbro to market a new line of transforming robot toys. Developed in collaboration with Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, the concept was adapted for television by Marvel Comics writers and produced by Toei Animation. The series was created to provide a narrative framework for the toys, pitting the heroic Autobots against the villainous Decepticons in a perpetual war that shifted from their home planet of Cybertron to Earth.
The aesthetic of the series was heavily influenced by Japanese mecha design, emphasizing modular, mechanical transformation sequences that prioritized visual clarity for young viewers. While critics at the time largely dismissed the show as a long-form commercial for Hasbro products, it achieved massive success, becoming a foundational pillar of 1980s pop culture. The show's character-driven storytelling and distinct visual identity established a legacy that has sustained the Transformers brand through decades of sequels, films, and reimaginings.
