Tribe Nine

Tribe Nine was released in 2022 as a multimedia project created by Too Kyo Games, a collective founded by creators known for the Danganronpa series including Kazutaka Kodaka. The series was designed to blend high-stakes street sports with a gritty, neon-drenched dystopian aesthetic, exploring themes of tribal loyalty and societal control in a reimagined version of Tokyo. Its visual direction sought to replicate a kinetic, stylized anime experience that favored fast-paced action over conventional narrative tropes.

The animation production was handled by Studio LIDENFILMS, aiming to bring a distinctive, exaggerated character design and vibrant color palette to the screen. Upon its release, the series received a polarized reception; while many fans of the creators appreciated the bold stylistic risks and the unique concept of 'Extreme Baseball,' critics often noted that the ambitious world-building sometimes struggled to find a cohesive narrative balance. It remains a notable example of a creator-driven experiment intended to expand into gaming and music concurrently.
