Where it came from
Trip Trek was produced by Studio Manglobe and released as an original net animation in 2003. As one of the studio’s earliest projects, it served as a showcase for Manglobe's experimental approach to animation, arriving shortly after the studio was founded by former Sunrise producers. The project was conceived as a lighthearted, visually distinct piece of science fiction that explored themes of space travel through a stylized, somewhat surreal lens.
The animation was characterized by its vibrant color palette and unconventional character designs, which reflected the studio's desire to distinguish itself from the more mainstream aesthetic trends of the early 2000s. While it remains a relatively obscure entry in the broader catalog of Manglobe, it is frequently cited by fans of the studio as an important glimpse into the creative experimentation that would later define their more famous works like Samurai Champloo.
