Where it came from
Tropical KISS is a 2012 original video animation produced by Collaboration Works. It emerged during a period of experimentation within the independent animation sector, aiming to blend lighthearted narrative tropes with the visual aesthetic typical of early 2010s niche anime releases.
The production was intended as a standalone short-form project, prioritizing character-driven vignettes over an expansive plot. While it remains a niche entry in the landscape of direct-to-video releases, its design reflects the era's focus on stylized, vibrant character art, appealing primarily to viewers interested in the specific technical output of smaller independent studios during that time.
