Where it came from
Tsukiuta. The Animation was produced by Studio Pierrot and premiered in 2016 as an adaptation of a character CD project created by Movic. The franchise centers on anthropomorphic representations of the months of the year, organized into two rival idol units, Six Gravity and Procellarum, who reside in the same dormitory. The project was conceived to blend music production with character-driven narrative arcs, allowing fans to follow the professional and personal development of the twelve idols.
The character designs were originally drafted by Jiku, whose work emphasizes distinct color palettes and symbolic motifs associated with each month. Studio Pierrot utilized a bright, high-energy aesthetic to transition the audio-drama format into a visual medium, focusing on the slice-of-life interactions between the members. The series was designed to appeal to fans of the idol-genre, balancing performance sequences with character dynamics that reflect the personalities assigned to their respective zodiac signs.
