Where it came from
Tsuredure Children originated as an independent web manga created by Toshiya Wakabayashi, who began serializing the work online in 2012 before it was picked up for commercial publication in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The series gained popularity for its unconventional structure, which eschews a traditional single narrative in favor of a series of vignettes focusing on the awkward, varied, and often humorous romantic pursuits of multiple high school couples.
The 2017 anime adaptation was produced by Studio Gokumi and directed by Hiraku Kaneko. The production team aimed to retain the manga's rapid-fire, four-panel comic pacing by utilizing a shorter fifteen-minute episode format. Upon its release, the series was well-received by critics and audiences alike for its lighthearted tone and its success in capturing the specific, fleeting anxieties of teenage relationships.
