Where it came from
TsumaSho, also known as My Wife Has No Emotion, debuted as a television anime series in 2024, produced by Studio Signpost. The series is based on the manga by Jirō Sugiura, which explores the domestic life of a salaryman who begins a relationship with a domestic robot. The anime was created to capture the gentle, slice-of-life tone of the source material while navigating the ethical and emotional complexities inherent in the human-machine dynamic.
The character designs and animation direction were tailored to emphasize the contrast between the protagonist's relatable, everyday environment and the uncanny, yet endearing, nature of his robotic partner. Upon its release, the adaptation was received by audiences as a contemplative take on the romantic comedy genre, noted for its steady pacing and its focus on the evolving intimacy between two fundamentally different types of beings.
