Ultra B: Black Hole kara no Dokusaisha BB!!

Ultra B: Black Hole kara no Dokusaisha BB!! was produced by Shin-Ei Animation and released in 1988 as part of the theatrical program for the Doraemon franchise. The film is based on the manga series Ultra B, created by the prolific duo Fujiko Fujio, specifically the work of Motoo Abiko under the pen name Fujiko Fujio (A). The narrative revolves around an alien infant named Ultra B who possesses extraordinary psychokinetic powers and finds himself integrated into a typical suburban household, blending sci-fi elements with the classic gag-manga structure common to the studio's output during the late 1980s.

The aesthetic of the film reflects the distinct, minimalist character design and expressive, slapstick-oriented animation style that defined the Fujiko Fujio adaptations of the era. Aimed at a younger demographic, the film served as a vehicle to expand the reach of the Ultra B franchise following its serialization in Shogakukan magazines. While the character remained a staple of children's television programming for a brief period, this theatrical release represents a singular moment of cinematic ambition for the property, capturing the lighthearted, imaginative tone that characterized Japanese kids' animation before the industry shifted toward more complex serialized storytelling.
