Umayuru: Pretty Gray

Umayuru: Pretty Gray is a 2025 original net animation produced by Scooter Films, serving as an expansion within the broader Umayuru franchise. The project was conceived to explore more nuanced character vignettes outside the primary series, focusing on a shift in tone toward a more contemplative and atmospheric aesthetic. By leveraging the studio's established digital production pipeline, the creators aimed to maintain visual consistency while experimenting with muted color palettes that distinguish this installment from its more vibrant predecessors.

The creative direction for Pretty Gray was centered on refining the character-driven storytelling that defines the Umayuru universe. Designers at Scooter Films sought to strip back excessive ornamentation in favor of minimalist backgrounds and character expressions, a choice intended to emphasize the subtle emotional arcs of the cast. Upon its digital release, the work was received by the community as a stylistic departure that prioritizes mood and character study over traditional high-energy tropes.
