Uta no Prince Sama 2

Uta no Prince Sama 2, known as Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 2000%, was produced by A-1 Pictures and aired in 2013 as the direct sequel to the 2011 anime adaptation of the visual novel series. The series was created to capitalize on the success of the multimedia franchise, which follows the aspiring composer Haruka Nanami as she navigates the prestigious Saotome Academy alongside the members of the idol group Starish. The production aimed to expand the franchise’s musical narrative by introducing the rival group Quartet Night, broadening the roster of characters while maintaining the series' signature blend of shojo romance and stage-performance spectacle.

The character designs were overseen by Mitsue Mori, who adapted the original illustrations from series creator Chinatsu Kurahana to better suit television animation. The series was designed to emphasize its high-energy musical sequences, utilizing bright aesthetics and theatrical staging to mimic live idol concerts. Upon its release, the show was well-received by the existing fan base, solidifying its status as a staple of the music-idol genre and helping to establish the massive commercial success of the Uta no Prince Sama brand throughout the 2010s.
