The great detective Holmes does not solve mysteries or use deductive reasoning. He does, however, hunt vampires. Using three-minute episodes, Vampire Holmes retells the story of the great Holmes and his assistant. What begins as an ordinary detective agency takes a turn for the occult when the Metropolitan Police of London secretly hire Holmes and Hudson to investigate vampires.

Where it came from
Vampire Holmes was produced by Studio! Cucuri and aired in 2015 as a short-form anime television series. The project originated from a mobile game developed by CubeType, which sought to subvert the traditional Sherlock Holmes mythos by presenting the detective as a character who refuses to engage in deductive reasoning, preferring instead to delegate the investigative work to his assistant, Watson.
The series was directed and written by CUCURI, the studio behind the source material. It is noted for its unconventional, minimalist animation style and eccentric narrative approach, which prioritizes comedic absurdity over mystery tropes. Upon its release, the show was widely discussed within anime communities for its experimental tone and the stark contrast between its whimsical execution and the storied legacy of Arthur Conan Doyle’s original detective.
