Where it came from
Wagaya no Oinari-sama. Specials were produced in 2008 as short-form supplementary content to accompany the television anime adaptation of Jin Shibamura's light novel series. These episodes were released following the primary broadcast, intended to provide fans with lighthearted, non-canonical interactions between the members of the Takagami household and the divine fox spirit, Kugen Tenko.
The character designs were overseen by animation director Shinichi Yamaoka, aiming to replicate the whimsical yet folklore-inspired aesthetic established in the main series by Zexcs studio. By focusing on mundane or comedic scenarios rather than the primary plot's supernatural conflicts, the specials functioned as a low-stakes companion piece, receiving a modest reception from the existing audience as a way to extend the time spent with the series' core cast.
