Wangzhe Wai Zhuan 2

Wangzhe Wai Zhuan 2, also known as King of Glory Side Story 2, emerged from the expansive cultural phenomenon surrounding the Chinese mobile game Honor of Kings. As part of a series of promotional animations designed to flesh out the game's lore, this project was commissioned by Tencent to deepen player engagement through serialized narrative storytelling. It reflects the broader trend of major mobile titles expanding into transmedia franchises to cultivate a dedicated, long-term fanbase.

The animation features a distinct visual style typical of modern Chinese net-animations, balancing high-energy combat sequences with aesthetic cues taken from the game's character designs. Produced by external animation studios contracted by Tencent, the series was designed to be accessible to a wide audience while specifically catering to existing players. Upon its release on streaming platforms, it was primarily received as a functional marketing tool, noted for its polish while serving as a bridge between the game's gameplay mechanics and its expanding cinematic universe.
