Where it came from
Welcome, Chitose—known in its original Japanese as Chitose Get You!!—is an anime series produced by the studio Gathering. Based on the four-panel manga by Eiji Mashima, the series debuted in 2018 as a series of short-form segments. It tells the lighthearted story of a young woman named Chitose who begins working at a local store, focusing on her interactions with her colleagues and the daily rhythm of her environment.
The animation style is purposefully minimalist and clean, reflecting the episodic, slice-of-life nature of the original source material. By utilizing short episodes, Gathering aimed to capture the charm of a gag-manga adaptation, prioritizing character expression and comedic timing over complex narratives. It was received as a gentle, low-stakes viewing experience, typical of the short-format anime genre common in modern Japanese broadcast schedules.
