Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun debuted in 2019 as a television anime adaptation of Osamu Nishi’s long-running manga series. Produced by Bandai Namco Pictures, the series follows Iruma Suzuki, a young boy sold to a demon by his neglectful parents, who subsequently finds himself navigating the Netherworld while attempting to conceal his human identity. The studio’s approach emphasized a vibrant, comedic aesthetic that mirrored the manga's lighthearted tone while building out an expansive, imaginative fantasy world.

The character design and art direction were tailored to capture the distinct personalities of the demon student body, balancing chaotic humor with heartfelt character growth. Upon its release, the series was received as a standout entry in the 'isekai' subgenre for its unique premise and its focus on character development over power-fantasy tropes. The animation team sought to maintain the visual clarity required for ensemble-cast storytelling, a choice that solidified the series' enduring appeal among fans of supernatural comedies.
