For some reason, Sayaka seems to be harboring hatred for her father. One day, Mie Wakabayashi, who has romantic feelings for Souji, tells him what she's heard about the Professor: that he has been killing his models so that he can paint their corpses. Where it came from
Wet Summer Days was produced by Kitty Media and released in 2003 as an adult-oriented original video animation. It emerged during a period when Kitty Media was a primary distributor for English-language localizations of Japanese animation within the adult niche market, catering to a growing international demand for curated content that transitioned from traditional import styles to more polished, direct-to-video productions.
The creative direction reflected the aesthetic sensibilities common to early 2000s independent animation studios, prioritizing atmospheric storytelling and specific character-driven narratives typical of the era's adult anime subgenre. While these titles often operated within a highly specialized market segment, the production design focused on a visual consistency that aimed to satisfy the expectations of the established fan base for domestic releases of overseas animation.
