When the paper was folded and then spread, the creases looked like lines. These lines made the paper seem a little three-dimensional and also looked like they meant something. I often get lost in such thoughts.

Where it came from
Whimsies, produced by Geidai Animation, emerged from the prestigious Tokyo University of the Arts animation program. The project was conceived as an experimental short, reflecting the studio's focus on nurturing emerging talent and pushing the boundaries of traditional narrative structures within Japanese independent animation.
The design of the film emphasizes hand-drawn aesthetics and surrealistic imagery, characteristic of the Geidai department's emphasis on individual artistic expression over commercial viability. It was intended to evoke a dreamlike atmosphere, and upon its release in festival circuits, it was noted primarily by critics and animation scholars for its distinct visual language and technical craftsmanship.
