After performing a song at her school’s opening ceremony, musician Yori Asanagi receives an apparent love confession from freshman Himari Kino. But just as Yori decides she wants to return Himari’s feelings, Himari reveals that she did not “love” her, but “admires” her! But you can’t unring a bell once struck, and Yori is determined to make Himari fall for her, not just her music. Will their hearts ever beat as one, or will their love fall out of tune?

Where it came from
Whisper Me a Love Song, known in Japan as Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau, began as a manga series by Eku Takeshima before being adapted into an anime television series in 2024. Produced by studio CLOUDHEARTS, the series explores the budding romantic tension between a freshman student and a popular upperclassman after a chance encounter at an opening ceremony concert. The adaptation was highly anticipated by fans of the yuri genre, focusing on the intersection of musical passion and personal discovery.
The character designs and visual direction aim to capture the emotive, soft aesthetic characteristic of Takeshima's original artwork. By prioritizing the internal states of the two leads, the production team sought to translate the nuanced pacing of the manga into a broadcast format. Upon its release, the series became a notable entry in the 2024 seasonal lineup, recognized for its dedication to the slow-burn romance tropes that define the source material.
