Where it came from
Xi Xing Ji: Kuang Wang is an original net animation series produced by BYMENT, serving as a prequel to the popular Xi Xing Ji franchise. Based on the manhua written by Zheng Jianhe and Deng Zhihui, the series was developed to expand upon the backstory of the character Killing Tathagata. Released to deepen the lore of the established fantasy world, the production focused on maintaining the signature high-octane, dark fantasy aesthetic that fans of the original manhua expected from the studio.
The animation style and character designs were crafted to mirror the gritty, detailed illustrations found in the source material, utilizing 3D CGI techniques that define the modern Xi Xing Ji animation suite. BYMENT aimed to translate the intense martial arts sequences and complex character dynamics of the manhua into a fluid visual format. Upon its release, the series was well-received by the existing fanbase for its faithful adaptation of the dark, reimagined mythology and its commitment to the tone established by the previous seasons.
