Where it came from
Xin Jue, also known as Soul Land or Douluo Dalu, is a prominent 3D-animated series produced by the Chinese studio Bilibili in collaboration with Sparkly Key Animation. It emerged from the thriving ecosystem of Chinese web novels, serving as an adaptation of Tang Jia San Shao's widely read fantasy literature. Released as a long-running ONA (Original Net Animation), it represents the rapid expansion of high-quality domestic CGI animation in China, targeting an audience deeply invested in cultivation-themed narratives and complex character progression.
The visual design of the series is heavily influenced by contemporary Chinese fantasy aesthetics, emphasizing fluid, high-fidelity character models and elaborate magical displays that push the technical capabilities of local animation pipelines. The production team focused on blending traditional Wuxia elements with modern digital rendering techniques to distinguish the title from regional competitors. Upon release, the series received significant attention for its consistency and scale, helping to establish Bilibili as a central hub for serialized high-fantasy animation.
