Xin Qin Shi Mingyue

Xin Qin Shi Mingyue, also known as The Legend of Qin: Xin, is a high-profile animated production released on the Youku platform. Developed to expand the narrative universe of the long-running franchise originally adapted from Wen Shiren's novels, this iteration aimed to utilize modernized animation techniques and a refined aesthetic to appeal to both loyal followers of the series and a new generation of digital viewers. It serves as an extension of the wuxia-inspired historical fantasy saga that has defined a significant portion of Chinese web-based animation.

The design philosophy behind this production focused on balancing the established character archetypes with more fluid, contemporary character modeling and dynamic action sequences. The studio sought to honor the visual legacy of the franchise while pushing for a more cinematic quality in its lighting and background artistry. Upon its release, it was noted for its commitment to the series' thematic roots in the late Warring States period, reflecting a continued trend in the industry to leverage popular intellectual property through high-fidelity streaming-exclusive formats.
