Xiong Bing Lian 3: Leiting Wan Jun

Xiong Bing Lian 3: Leiting Wan Jun, known in English as The Black Troop 3: Thunderous Charge, was produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures and released as a high-fidelity 3D animated ONA series. As the third major installment in the Xiong Bing Lian franchise, this production served to further expand the expansive sci-fi military narrative that originated from the Super Seminary universe. The series builds upon the established world-building, focusing on the tactical battles and character-driven drama that define the series' engagement with Chinese futuristic warfare themes.

The visual identity of this production is rooted in advanced motion capture and high-end 3D rendering techniques characteristic of Tencent's major animation projects. The design choices were aimed at achieving a cinematic quality that bridges the gap between traditional animation and live-action aesthetics, reflecting a push toward more mature, technically sophisticated domestic Chinese animation. Upon release, the series was well-received by fans of the genre for its significant advancements in animation fluidity and complex, serialized storytelling compared to its predecessors.
