Where it came from
Yahabe is a short-form ONA produced by Next Media Animation, a Taiwanese studio widely recognized for its distinctive 3D computer-generated animation style. The project emerged during a period when the studio was gaining international attention for its rapid-response satirical news segments, leading them to experiment with standalone narrative content that utilized their recognizable, stylized character models and fluid digital environments.
The design of the piece reflects the studio's broader commitment to rapid digital production, prioritizing kinetic movement and expressive, slightly uncanny character movements. While the short was largely received as a technical demonstration of the studio's in-house capabilities, it remains a notable example of the early 2010s trend of news-adjacent studios branching into original short-form entertainment, showcasing their ability to translate complex digital assets into quick, self-contained visual narratives.
