Yasai no Yousei: Quiz Gekijou

Yasai no Yousei: Quiz Gekijou, released in 2013, serves as an interactive expansion of the Yasai no Yousei (Vegetable Fairies) franchise. Originating from the picture books and designs by Yoshitaka Amano, the series centers on the concept of vegetable-based sprites who emerge in a kitchen once the humans have departed. This particular film adaptation was produced by Digital Media Lab, utilizing the distinct CGI aesthetic that defined the earlier television series to bring Amano's whimsical, ethereal character concepts into a more gamified, educational format.

The production was intended to engage a younger audience by integrating the established lore of the vegetable fairies with interactive quiz elements. Digital Media Lab aimed to maintain the artistic integrity of Amano’s original sketches, which are noted for their delicate lines and fantasy-inspired sensibilities, even when translating them into the digital environment. The project is regarded as a niche entry in the franchise, prioritizing the aesthetic consistency of the world-building over the traditional narrative structures found in the studio's earlier works.
