Ye Che

Ye Che, also known as Wild Sparrow, was produced through the Kaohsiung Film Fund in Taiwan, an initiative designed to foster local cinematic voices by providing funding and support for regional storytelling. Released to spotlight the specific landscapes and social textures of Southern Taiwan, the film reflects a period of heightened interest in Taiwanese regional identity and the nuance of working-class narratives within the domestic film industry.

The project was crafted to capture the quiet, observational rhythms of its characters, eschewing melodrama in favor of a grounded, realistic aesthetic. As part of the Kaohsiung Film Fund's portfolio, the film is representative of a broader movement to decentralize Taiwanese cinema away from Taipei, aiming to offer international audiences a more holistic view of the island's diverse lived experiences. Upon its release, it was noted by critics for its understated visual language and thematic focus on family and resilience.
