YAWARA! Special: Zutto Kimi no Koto ga... .

Yawara! Special: Zutto Kimi no Koto ga... was produced by Studio Madhouse and aired in 1996 as a television special. It serves as a concluding epilogue to the long-running Yawara! anime series, which adapted Naoki Urasawa’s popular manga about a young judo prodigy struggling to balance her athletic destiny with her desire for a normal life. This installment was crafted to provide fans with a definitive emotional resolution to the characters' arcs following the conclusion of the main series.

The production maintains the aesthetic established by the original series, focusing on the character-driven storytelling and sports drama that defined Urasawa’s work. Character designs for the television adaptation were overseen by Yoshinori Kanemori, who sought to translate Urasawa’s manga style into a fluid, expressive animation format. Upon its release, the special was well-received by the existing fanbase as a thoughtful send-off that allowed viewers to see the protagonist reach a sense of personal closure regarding her judo career.
