Youkai Watch: Enma Daiou to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!

Released in 2015 as the second feature-length installment in the Yo-kai Watch franchise, Enma Daiou to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan! was produced by OLM, Inc. during the height of the series' popularity in Japan. The film was developed to expand the lore of the Yo-kai world by introducing the character of Enma Daiou, the ruler of the Yo-kai, and weaving together five distinct narrative arcs that bridge the human and Yo-kai realms. Its production was strategically timed to capitalize on the immense commercial momentum generated by the initial television series and video games, serving as a festive holiday-season release.

The film's visual identity remains consistent with the vibrant, character-driven aesthetic established by the OLM animation team for the franchise, emphasizing expressive designs that translate well across various media. Upon release, the movie was well-received by its target audience of children and families, performing strongly at the Japanese box office. Critics noted that while the segmented structure of the storytelling was ambitious, it successfully maintained the franchise's signature blend of humor, supernatural mystery, and heart, reinforcing the series' status as a prominent cultural phenomenon of the mid-2010s.
