Youkai Watch ♪: Keita to Orecchi no Deai Hen da Nyan ♪ Wa, Watakushi mo ♪♪

Released in 2021, this title represents a transitional entry in the Yo-kai Watch franchise, serving as a commemorative special that bridges the classic series with the updated artistic direction of the 2021 reboot. Produced by OLM, the animation studio responsible for the long-running series, the project was designed to reintroduce the original protagonist Keita Amano and his foundational encounter with the yo-kai Whisper to a new generation of viewers.

The creative direction for this special focuses on a refined, slightly softer character aesthetic compared to the original 2013 designs, reflecting the visual evolution of the series under the studio's direction. It was received as a nostalgic retrospective, intended to ground the franchise's ongoing expansion by revisiting the core dynamic between the human lead and his spectral companions while testing the appeal of the series' refreshed tonal approach.
