Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san OVA

The Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san OVA was produced by studio Xebec and released in 2018 as a direct companion to the television anime adaptation of Tadahiro Miura's popular supernatural comedy manga. Serving as an extension of the franchise, the project was intended to provide fans with additional narrative content that explored the antics of the residents of the titular hot spring inn. The production aimed to maintain the lighthearted, ecchi-focused tone established by the original source material, emphasizing the character dynamics between the spectral Yuuna and the psychic protagonist, Fuyuzora Kogarashi.

The animation design closely followed the aesthetic established in the main series, prioritizing the character-centric humor and supernatural aesthetic that defined the manga's transition to the screen. By utilizing the OVA format, the creative team was able to lean into the specific tropes and fan-service elements expected by the established readership of Weekly Shonen Jump. While the series garnered a dedicated following for its character designs and comedic timing, its release was primarily viewed as a supplementary experience for existing enthusiasts of the franchise.
