Buller's Shearwater

Buller's shearwater, or Ardenna bulleri, is a seabird primarily associated with the Poor Knights Islands off the coast of New Zealand, which serve as its only known breeding ground. Named after the New Zealand ornithologist Walter Buller, the species was formally described in the late 19th century. Its evolutionary history is deeply tied to the temperate waters of the Pacific, where its migration patterns lead it to span vast distances across the ocean, reflecting an adaptation to pelagic life that has fascinated naturalists for decades.
