Dead Sea Sparrow

The Dead Sea Sparrow, Passer moabiticus, is a small passerine bird primarily associated with the scrublands and river valleys of the Jordan River valley and surrounding areas in the Middle East. It was first described by Henry Baker Tristram in 1864, following his explorations of the Holy Land. The bird is biologically notable for its localized distribution, which is deeply tied to the riparian corridors of the region, specifically tamarisk thickets, which provide both habitat and nesting material.
