Jerdon's Baza

Jerdon's Baza, or Aviceda jerdoni, was formally described by the English naturalist Edward Blyth in 1842. It is named after Thomas C. Jerdon, a British physician and naturalist who made significant contributions to the documentation of Indian ornithology during the mid-19th century. The species is part of the Accipitridae family, specifically recognized for its distinctive crest and specific plumage patterns that allow it to blend into the canopy environments of Southeast and South Asia.
