Morrison's Fulvetta

Morrison's Fulvetta, scientifically classified as Alcippe morrisonia, is a passerine bird species native to the mountain forests of Taiwan. Named in honor of the island's highest peak, Yushan—historically known as Mount Morrison—this species occupies a specific ecological niche in the subtropical understory. It was first described in the late 19th century as ornithologists and naturalists began documenting the unique biodiversity of Taiwan's rugged interior highlands.

The physical design of the species is defined by its rounded wings and a distinctively notched tail, features that have evolved to facilitate agile movement through dense shrubbery and canopy growth. These morphological characteristics were cataloged during an era of significant biogeographical exploration in East Asia, as researchers sought to understand the evolutionary relationships between island populations and their mainland relatives in Southeast Asia.
