Papuan Hanging-Parrot

The Papuan Hanging-Parrot, Loriculus aurantiifrons, is a member of a unique genus of small parrots characterized by their distinct habit of hanging upside down while resting. Found primarily in the lowland forests and coastal regions of New Guinea and nearby islands, this species was formally described by Hermann Schlegel in 1871.
