Picui Ground Dove

The Picui Ground Dove, or Columbina picui, is a species of dove native to South America. It was scientifically described by the naturalist Coenraad Jacob Temminck in 1811, emerging from the era of intense biological exploration where European taxonomists sought to categorize the diverse avian life of the New World.
