The White-throated Piping-Guan (Pipile grayi) is a distinct cracid native to the humid forests of the southwestern Amazon basin, primarily in Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. It was formally described by ornithologist George Robert Gray in the mid-19th century, honoring the species' evolutionary adaptation to dense, tropical canopies.
