White-throated Quail-Dove

The White-throated Quail-dove, scientifically classified as Zentrygon frenata, is a terrestrial bird native to the humid montane forests of the Andes, ranging from Venezuela through Colombia and Ecuador to Bolivia. It occupies the dark, secluded understory of these ecosystems, relying on its cryptic plumage to forage undisturbed among fallen leaves. Its existence is intrinsically linked to the health of high-altitude cloud forests, which provide the dense cover necessary for this species to thrive in the shadows of the forest floor.
