Bruno Schulz

This volume serves as the formal proceedings of the International Bruno Schulz Symposium, which was held in Montreal in 2007. It was published by the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in Canada to consolidate the scholarly presentations and critical analyses shared during the event. The symposium sought to examine the enduring influence of Bruno Schulz, the Polish-Jewish writer and artist whose visionary prose, particularly in The Street of Crocodiles, remains a cornerstone of modernist literature.

The publication acts as a bridge between international academics and the legacy of a man whose career was tragically cut short during the Holocaust. Its design reflects the academic nature of the institute’s mission, emphasizing clarity and archival documentation. Within the context of Schulz studies, the book is considered a significant contribution to the secondary literature, providing a rare collection of multidisciplinary perspectives on his work that might otherwise have remained scattered or inaccessible.
