Evgeniy Onegin

Evgeniy Onegin, or Eugene Onegin, was originally written by Alexander Pushkin and serialized between 1823 and 1831. Regarded as a foundational work of Russian literature, the novel in verse depicts the life of a disillusioned aristocrat and his tragic interactions with the provincial Tatyana Larina. Pushkin’s innovation lay in his use of the 'Onegin stanza,' a complex rhyme scheme that captures both witty social satire and profound emotional depth, marking a departure from the stylistic norms of the early nineteenth century.
