Fujita Tsuguharu ten

This retrospective volume, titled Fujita Tsuguharu ten, was published in 2006 to accompany a major exhibition celebrating the life and work of Tsuguharu Foujita. Released by NHK Promotions, the book serves as a comprehensive catalog for the tour, which revisited the contributions of the Japanese-French painter who became one of the most prominent figures of the School of Paris in the early 20th century. The collection highlights the unique synthesis of Western oil painting techniques and Japanese ink-wash aesthetics that defined his signature style.

The publication captures the artist's enduring influence, focusing on his mastery of line and his subtle, milky-white skin tones which garnered him international acclaim during the 1920s. By assembling this retrospective, the editors aimed to contextualize Foujita's artistic trajectory, from his bohemian days in Montparnasse to his later religious and stylistic explorations. The volume is considered an essential reference for scholars and admirers of early modern art, offering a structured visual narrative of an artist who spent his career oscillating between his dual cultural identities.
