Jennifer Bartlett

Published in 2023 by Locks Art Publications, this monograph serves as a comprehensive document of the career and creative evolution of Jennifer Bartlett, the noted American artist renowned for her synthesis of conceptual art and Neo-Expressionist painting. The volume was produced by Locks Gallery, which has long maintained a close professional relationship with Bartlett’s estate, to preserve the legacy of her expansive practice, particularly her iconic grid-based works and public installations.

The design of the book focuses on presenting Bartlett’s multifaceted approach to medium and scale, bridging her early mathematical explorations with her later, more gestural compositions. It functions as both a retrospective catalog and a scholarly reference, intended to contextualize her influence on contemporary art. Critical reception of the publication has highlighted its role in re-centering Bartlett’s importance within the historical narrative of the 1970s and 1980s New York art scene.
