Jennifer Bartlett

Published in 2006 by Locks Gallery, this monograph serves as a comprehensive visual survey of the work of Jennifer Bartlett, a prominent American artist noted for her innovative fusion of conceptual art and representational painting. Released during a period when Bartlett's long-standing career was being reassessed by critics and scholars, the book documents her transition from the systematic grid-based paintings of the 1970s to her more fluid, emotive explorations of landscapes, interiors, and gardens.

The publication functions as a critical record of Bartlett's process, highlighting her meticulous approach to medium and scale. By cataloging pieces that span several decades, the volume captures the artist's dedication to modularity and the subversion of traditional artistic boundaries. It remains an essential reference for understanding how Bartlett balanced rigorous intellectual frameworks with a persistent interest in the texture and color of the natural world, cementing her legacy within contemporary American art history.
