Juifs et Chrétiens d'hier à demain

Published in 1990 by Éditions du Cerf, Yohanan Elihai's 'Juifs et Chrétiens d'hier à demain' emerged as a scholarly contribution to the ongoing interfaith dialogue between Judaism and Christianity. Elihai, known for his work in linguistics and his immersion in Near Eastern culture, crafted this text to explore the historical, theological, and social complexities that have shaped the relationship between the two faiths. The work reflects the broader post-Vatican II efforts within the Catholic Church to foster greater mutual understanding and reconciliation following centuries of theological tension.

The book is situated within the academic tradition of comparative religion and ecumenical study common to the late 20th-century French intellectual landscape. By examining the roots of these two traditions, Elihai sought to provide readers with a nuanced perspective on their shared history and the challenges of their future coexistence. The volume was received as a serious academic reflection, consistent with Cerf’s long-standing reputation for publishing rigorous theological, historical, and philosophical works.
